I'm looking for a UK keyword assessment tool that finds out how popular key words/terms are across the UK (and global) engines.
We've got our own one, and obviously can use Overture's ad tool if needs be, but I'm looking to see if there is something commercially available.
In essence I'm wondering if a UK version of Wordtracker exists. Pref. something that queries the major UK/global engines and gives you a result from a time period (previous month is fine).
Has anyone come across a tool set that's actually useful? I'm doing some research to compare what we have already with what's out there in the market place.
Your esteemed opinions gratefully received!
Many thanks
Charon
I am sure there must be a way to take the Wordtracker results and filter geographically - and perhaps involve a few UK results sources to statistically validate it.
I could be wrong though - anyone from Word Tracker out there who can confirm/deny?
Cheers
Charon
PS: What would be excellent is a Wordtracker where you can select the engines you want from across the world before you to do a query.
We've had many a phone call from people who have tried to use Wordtracker and get themselves all tied up because they say there is incosistencies. It's those inconsistencies that make all the difference between a good and a great campaign and a sheep.
Many people will use the the inventory tool, many will use the Espotting keyword tool, many will use the Google sandbox, many will use Wordtracker. Those that do end up with the same list as all the other sheep.
We use the force. If we get it badly wrong we don't pay for our mistakes because nobody clicks.
You could have the best keywords in the world, but if the adverts you write are the worst then the keywords are academic.
UK (or any country) research is like peeling an onion. The more you peel, the more you reveal, the more you reveal the cheaper it gets.
We certainly have a significant database of historical searches (from 12 months ago), which is pretty useful for seasonal campaigns, we can pull a campaign from the shelf, blow the dust off and put the campaign back into play. it's amazing actually how the numbers stack up in terms of CTR.

Your quick right, the deeper you go the more chances you have to target the appropriate/specific customer hence conversion rate sky high.
Unfortunately you loose the possibility of reaching the less experience searcher, those who will use generic terms to find your site.
How do you compensate for this loss?

Also looking at the monthly reports from PPC accounts at espotting, overture and adwords can give you far more insight to actual search volumes than the online tools. If you are really serious about keyword research then using PPC accounts can be very handy although it takes a lot time to set up.
