Seems like competition is about 1/10 for UK sites compared to "the web" searches.
Just wanted to know if anyone is using it.

I always use it when searching for UK sites. Its odd though that google doesn't show uk filtered results by default. Afterall they are using google.co.uk domain instead of the com. :)

In general we see about 30% of google visitors comoing from google.co.uk with the majority of these finding the sites with UK Sites Only.

When I use G.co.uk I always select that option. I agree, frustrating it's not by default.

Yes, similar figures to Ian's. About a third using .co.uk and most of those using UK filter.

We see around 40% coming from .co.uk - again most using pages from the uk.

How does one tell if the site's visitor has used the "uk" filter? I mean ok they came from google.co.uk but whether they chose the uk filter or not....?
cheers

Look for the portion of the referral string which says "meta=cr%3DcountryUK%7CcountryGB"

Around 55% from .co.uk - and it seems to be on the rise - last month .com provided more.

I use it especially for shopping sites.

I think the reason it is not 'default' is also due to the fact many 'UK sites' actually use a .com domain.

But using 'UK sites' does not always filter to only .co.uk domains!

No UK Only sites also filters for .coms hosted on UK IP addresses (which is very useful).

It would be nice if Yahoogle UK did the same thing.
They dump the .coms as being 'foriegn' regardless of where they are hosted:(
