Irish Search Engines

Are there any Irish Search Engines specifically listing companies who trade/sell to Ireland.

I can imagine most use standard UK stuff such as Google or (yahoo with irish preference) but am keen to see if there are any I may have missed.

Some seam pretty good but some or more like business directories that web search tools.

I have to tell you that I am in most of these with one site or another - am (sort of) in Ireland and get pretty much zip traffic from them. Irish searchers seem to use the main SEs we all know and love when they are looking for stuff.

Right now the world seams to use Google. either direct or through their regional Yahoo!

I am listed in most of the irish search engines,
haven't recieved much traffic but a few of them use
normal html pages which google can read so my links went
towards link popularity. So if link pop is a big factor in
your promotion go a submit, otherwise don't waste your time

The two that seem to get picked up by the Big G are Niceone, and BrowseIreland.

To be honest the ones that I listed in my post above, I cant vouch much for their quality although i do remember that the Doras directory used to have a link from the bottom of the Yahoo! UK and Ireland directory serps.

Doras.ie have started charging for most of their services. A bit ridiculous really, they never had a great foothold, and this will just put them into an early grave, IMHO

Google indexes IrishSearch.net for the same reason that it indexes BrowseIreland - static pages, or maybe because it likes the format.

Here's a few more business oriented sites... I am based in Dublin and do SEO work from here and would have to say I spend the majority of my time on the big engines and directories rather than the Irish ones. If a company is aiming its product/service at the Irish market, I concentrate on the major engines, as these send the most traffic. Other forms of online and offline marketing are used in addition to search engines when aiming at the rather small Irish market.

However, it can be worthwhile submitting for links and the odd referral here and there!

Purple Pages - www.purplepages.ie
Provides free Internet business resources for the Irish market, including business directories, newsletters and forums.

Blue Pages - www.bluepages.ie
Business directory for the Dublin area, with entertainment listings and other useful information.

Online.ie - www.online.ie
Irish portal site with news, email and search service.

Irish Sites - www.irishsites.com
Portal type directory site which powers results at Online.ie and Irish Abroad.com.

Easyquote - www.easyquote.ie
Searchable business directory which allows users to request quotes for products and services from Irish companies.
