I have entrusted by a relative to promote an online shop based in the UK selling “contemporary gifts for the home and garden”

There is a text “enter here” page which links to information pages (locations etc) The content is not amazing. Each of these link to an actinic catalogue which should be crawlable. I have suggested that we need to add related content, perhaps detailed information on the location of the physical shop or etymology of the terms associated with the shop/products which is separate issue.

I have started doing the rounds finding directories to submit too, some are free some are not. Some require a link back with a god awful logo (give them a miss).

What are the thoughts on PPC like Espotting, are they really as good a they say?
Would you recommend me creating a site map which links to pages that link to me?
Would the cost of a listing in yahoo be worth it? (anyone with experience)
Any other suggestions?

Cheers

Espotting works OK for my customers (the few that take it up).

Not massive traffic, but cheap enough.

Just make sure that your bids are practical for your conversion rates and profit margins.
