I have recieved a few ;) phone calls from these people recently about taking a listing with them.(for quite a large sum of money I may add).

They stated that they have a new tv ad campaign starting shortly, and with the tv slots they mentioned i suppose it may get them some good exposure but I believe it will be short lived.

I have basically made my mind up in where to go with this, but I would like to hear from anyone that has had experience with listing a site with them in the past, more so to convince a colleague who seems excited at the idea of parting with a lot of cash.

Any Thoughts?

I just tried searching on Just35 for the phrase 'double glazing'. There were only 2 results

Can't see too many users being impressed with that.

However the real problem appears to be the cost.

£35.00 PER WEEK!!!! - can that be right???

That would go a very long way on a PFI program.

I took a call from these people last summer. They spoke of a national tv campaign then. I don't recall seeing one.

Poor performance, high cost, poor site.

It also took 4 months to get rid of these people

I work on the principal of 'If they find me their product isn't worth it'. 'If I find them they might hve something going for them' (or at least it'll justify the job of one of the other SEO's around here)

We have a client who paid them £1800 for a year's subscription (before they came to us!). I don't think that they had a single visitor from Just35.

In fact, their listing is still there, 6 months after the contract ran out...obviously not enough people paying their money to replace the existing sites.

Well, search on Google for 'just35' (without the quotes) and there's a review site (currently ranked just above just35.co.uk) that has the views of UK users on the state of just35.com from a variety of perspectives. Just35 has the honour of being one of the lowest rated services in the whole site.

Thanks for the replies.

I did see the other post from a couple of years ago and quite frankly I was suprised they are still in business.

The whole idea seems flawed to me, and no matter how much money they throw at tv campaigns I doubt if people will ever use such a system.

These type of companies are unreal.

If I paid them that much money and didn't receive the traffic they promised me I would be straight to the Trading Standards.

Steer Clear !

It obviously works on this principal: People are mugs.

I also was told about the national TV campain last summer.

If it's TV coverage advertising you are interested in the only three search engines or directories that spring to mind are: ShopSmart and Yahoo sponsoring Channel 5 9.00pm Movies and now (the only one I can think of that is current) is the new BBC search site.

£35 per week was the good price I was offered. I assume there's VAT on top of that - making a net loss of around £2138.50 per year.

The best way to find out who uses the service is to conduct a survey - ring businesses (preferably those with a good internet presence) and ask if they have ever used the following shopping search sites: ShopSmart, Just35, Kelkoo, Yahoo and DealTime. Only do about 10 and then decide where to spend your money.

I find this works great :)

Ask Jeeves and Lycos have advertised in the UK previously, both were quite memorable ads. freeserve do advertise but it tends to be their Broadband offering.

As for Just35 I had a call from them last week, and put their "manager" through his paces on his knowledge, which was non-existent.

For £2k a year most companies could do really well on a variety of PFI, PPC and other stuff.

I must admit the more I think about just35 the more I admire them. It doesn't take many signups to make a decent living.

Lets see at £2000 quid a shot, a dozen signups would cover most of my living expenses, I could then spend the rest of the year messing about with whatever I liked.

When they first lauched, I seem to remember it was nearer £4000.

I phoned someone with a listing on their site, as I was assured everyone on had paid (Including the charities).

Just Who?? was all I got when I asked :)

These guys are unreal in my opinion. I even watched out for the TV add once. Missed it, must have 'bin on the loo. I had the date/time/chanel right.
