"BBC Recommended"

[bbc.co.uk...]

Any feel yet for their actual selection criteria, as opposed to the stated ideals? They don't recommend anything in the areas I've been looking.

I checked a few popular 2 word phrases and found nothing. The only "BBC Recommended" sites I could find were for the single word 'holidays' - and these were rather obvious ones.

My guess is that its just pretty much as they say, but not off the ground yet.

Anyone know who the 'experts' are? BBC employees? full-time/part-time?

They can improve a lot.

I sent them a suggestion using their suggestion form.

I will post here if/when I receive a reply.

The BBC's editorial staff are full time BBC employees I believe; some of whom work on their general websites guide
[bbc.co.uk...]

And there's a suggest a site link and form at that link - can somebody submit to it and report back if the site appears on the main SERP?

They've been hiring recently for the editorial positions I think.

Apparently there's been a "glitch" that's been placing BBC's own pages as the BBC Recommended pages.

See this article, and the related story referenced at the bottom of this article:

guys, are we sure that the webguide suggest a site is for the "BBCi Recommended", or is it something different? I initially assumed they were same thing, but having looked around at the wording, i'm not sure now..

anyone?

mr_dredd2:
Have you tried testing by taking a few entries from the WebGuide directory and searching for their title/keywords in the BBC Search? I tested a few and all the ones that came up 'BBCi Recommended' in the BBC Search were also listed in WebGuide. Not a scientific study, but from half a dozen searches there were no BBCi Recommended that were not also listed in WebGuide.
