One of the NHS sites was hacked and was left with a black screen and a message.

[bbc.co.uk...]

It seems it's been restored, for now.

While most of our sites aren't obvious targets how often do we check that everything showing is what should be showing?

I know that I can easily go a week or more without actually looking at the home page of my main site and much longer for a couple of old hobby sites.

This is an old news !

April 2018 : [cybersecurityjobsite.com...]
February 2017 : [independent.co.uk...]

... hum... my bad, it happened again :)

how often do we check that everything showing is what should be showing?

Permanently. I constantly browse my sites, to detect problems, and check:
- defacing, so far it didn't happened , but I know that no one can claim to be immune against hackers
- detect possible network or server issue (if the pages are long to load for example)
- detecting details I may have missed, about page layout, text, etc,..
- and more generally to ensure my sites are working as they should.

I think this is very important to constantly monitor your site.
