Report: ApplePay Coming to UK July 14

I know some people that will be happy to hear that ApplePay is on it's way to the UK, sooner rather than later. I don't use it myself, but they have found it convenient.

Apple appears to be planning to enable its Apple Pay iPhone mobile payments service in the United Kingdom on July 14th, according to sources at multiple retailers. Initially, it will be limited to £20 transactions.

"Faster than accepting traditional payment cards". but the FAQ says " By default, it uses the same technology as other UK contactless cards." which makes me wonder how it will be visibly faster within the limitations of the card readers.

I really can't see how it is any different to using the card itself in store. At least I don't have to worry about how much charge is left on my cards.

It is being advertised heavily by a number of major financial institutions - maybe they are looking to phase out cards in the longer term.

I've seen those ads frequently popping up. It sure must be making some people that adopt new tech to seriously think about using an Apple iPhone, as opposed to an Android device.

I think we will see an Android pay coming soon - given Google's close relationship with banks. (Aside I lost a credit card recently and the bank issued a new one - before I updated my payment method to Google I received a notice saying the bank had informed them of my new credit card number! - Not sure I like that at all)
