Hi dakshadesignuk, first of all Welcome to WebmasterWorld!

Your question is too broad to give a quick answer, but the best advice I can give you if you have problems with ranking your site in Google is to visit our Google forum [webmasterworld.com]. The forum also has a library with threads [webmasterworld.com] where the most common issues with Google are discussed.

If all that information is too overwhelming, don't hesitate to ask specific questions there, and our friendly members will be pleased to discuss about the issues you see.

AS the others say, that question really is too broad. I assume that from your choice of board for your post that your site is explicitly targeted at a UK audience. From a UK perspective the initial thing to check is that Google (and the others) sees your site as a UK site.

I have seen a UK specific sites with a .com domain and hosted in the US totally fail to rank on a UK search but do well on google.com in the US! If you are hosted offshore make sure that your location is set in Google Webmaster Tools.

No.

Be better than the sites currently ranking ahead of you. And then continue being better than them after they've fought back to regain their former standing.

coz lots of work has been done in it for ranking...
...which may be part of the problem. If you push your rankings too hard with SEO, Google may decide that you are trying to manipulate the SERPs and put your site low in the results or remove the site completely.

Reading the library threads I linked to may give you information where it went wrong with your site. Read specifically the threads about Panda and Penguin updates as these are about major updates in Google's ranking algorithms.

There's not enough information about how it was "totally ruined" to understand exactly what the problem is. If a site is "totally ruined" then sometimes it's best to learn from the mistakes and to create a new site starting over again.
