For those of us unable to go to the US for the upcoming Bar Conference, an event in London focusing on Europe.

At 695 quid - you're joking - I could host a conference for that amount!!

Wow, it is quite expensive but far better than the cost of going to USA etc

It is better to be waiting for the second Webmasterworld Pub Conference in London.

The first one was impressive!

Who needs this. Surely by trawling these forums and joining in you can learn everything you need here.

When? No.

Search Engine Strategies is a whole different mind set. There are things occuring there that I think maybe worth the money. I'd like to see the speaker set first.

I attended in Dallas, TX and I just want to say that it was every bit worth the money. Most things I knew already but lots of things I did not. It was also nice to speak with some of the competition and get an idea as to what they know or don't know. It was really nice to know that the things that we are doing are right in line with good SEO strategies and that the competition is somewhat lacking.

If I were to spend that much on travel and conference fees, I would much rather attend WWW11.

Wouldn't have the chance to talk to many SEO's but at least I could hear from the people who design and research search engines.

There are plenty of search engine designers at the conference. Representatives from Google, Fast, Ask Jeeves, Inktomi and the likes were present.

I'm sorry but those kind of reps always have a certain style at marketing conferences. That is just my opinion. :)

I would much rather hear some heavy researching programmer go on about "Topic-Sensitive PageRank [dbpubs.stanford.edu]" that describes really juicy info on what the future might look like.

I suppose it is a matter of preference and isn't it great that we have options? That isn't to say that either conference is useless or better than the other, it is simply to say that people seeking SEO information instead of programming information may be better suited to attend the SE Strategies conference. The information was quite good as I am sure the WWW1 conference information was.

In your case it is probably better to attend the WWW11 conference based upon the information you are seeking. ~cheers~ :)
