I remember visiting that site recommended in the original notification and thought it odd I couldn't get to the site.

I tried again yesterday and still no luck.

Eventually, people will forget about the warnings and won't visit the site again.

The head of a government-funded cyber-security advice website has apologised and said he was "not sleeping" after the site collapsed under heavy traffic.

Get Safe Online was publicised as being the place to go for advice to protect computers against a high-profile hack.

But within moments of an announcement on Monday, the website collapsed under a deluge of visitors.

Despite extra capacity being added, problems continued well into Wednesday morning.UK Government Funded Net Security Site Collapses Under User Demand [bbc.co.uk]

How much traffic did it take to bring the site down?

Given the usual track record of British public-private collaborations I expect it was very little.

The site does not have a very good security record itself: its password strength checker gave bad advice and exposed passwords as plain text in the URL!
