Who is pol.co.uk

I get hudreds of visits from this organisation:
pol.co.uk. Can anyone tell me who they are? Are they an ISP?

Yes they are a business only ISP part of the energis group.

Hi Kapow,

They are "Planet On Line". They're the company that provide Freeserve with its ISP type stuff.

Freeserve is/was launched by Energis - network, telephoney, backbone, Dixons group doing marketing, and handing out CDs and Planet OnLine - who were a medium sized ISP back in the early days.

I didn't realise they were still connected

Just tested with 195.92.168.166, user agent freeserve from my logs. And it resolves as webcacheB04a.cache.pol.co.uk

So some connection still going on... (2 years since I left the ISP a little rusty - a different ISP)

I would put money (only a little) on that being the case. Based on three or four tests and history.

On the email notifications. Brett posted a note in foo saying it would be down for a few days - guess an upgrade is going on :)
