Hi,

I am intrigued to know any opinions people may have on uk250.com . It costs about 250 quid a year to be listed, and usually I would steer well clear.

However, I have a client (a gift site) that is getting about 20-30 visitors from it per day and I have noticed uk250 in the SERPs for terms related to gifts, so I am wondering if it is a worthwhile investment overall. IE: for non-gift related sites.

Hi Markymark,

Previous discussion [webmasterworld.com...]

Obvious question, do you know if the visitors turn into business?

Happened to be in a waiting room on Thursday, picked up a mag and saw a full page ad for Just35- still going- some big names have parted with their dosh.......cant think why?

Hi, philrkelly here - just about to re-register!

The site we were developing turned into asktheinter.net, which although popular at a certain level, does not generate a huge amount of traffic or click thru's.

We attempted to develop a uk-centric directory of the best, but along with many others discovered that whilst the technology was easy, the supporting infrastructure was unwieldy and expensive.

Having said that, I go through the submissions every month or so and add/remove sites etc. The site generates around 3,000 hits per day, and has over 5,000 registered users on its databases.

It's just sitting there for now. We are trying to decide whether there's any direction in this service at all; we had a spider in development, and with 10/20 submissions a day things were looking good, but it's the same question someone else asked earlier - did the hits convert to sales? In our experience no - everyone wanted something, and we got a couple of great reviews to back us up, but no-one would pay for the services.

If you think we should continue, send me a jollying-up email to any address in my profile.

All the best

Phil
