Hi

This is my first post, great board I have picked up some good tips already, my apologies if I am covering old ground with my (long) questions:

My Lycos UK description is garbled reads the first 5-6 words then has part of someone elses listing, will this fix itself. I have resubmitted in case it does not, does anyone know when the editors review or is it a case of as and when

I am trying to get description on ODP changed as the range of products we sell has changed since our listing went on 1 year ago. I have submitted 3 times now for change...no change and no reply. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Finally, I desperately need to get a particular keyword in to my Yahoo listing tried Title change=ignored same as description change=ignored. Am I right in thinking that the best way is to obtain URL with keyword in and submit change of URL...

Many thanks in advance for any help

Welcome to WMW woody,

What do you mean by garbled, how long has the description been listed as it is, was it within the Looksmart partners payment option.

If over 30 days, the description cannot be changed, without another £*** listing for the same page which may get the listing changed. If within thirty days, don't moan about the description in relation to the company, but the searcher.

Depending on which ODP category your site listing is in, may be the problem, as there isn't enough editors - which is a possible reason. Otherwise argue for the user finding relevant results, and the company being so relavent in the services it offers, that the description needs to be changed to make the ODP more relevant and useful to the user.

Yahoo, Title is usually company name - if it already is this, then you probably can't get that changed. The description is a problem, but persistance and focusing on users of Yahoo, finding relevant results should do the trick.

Yahoo, ODP and other directories - if you want to get a description changed then argue against the current description being misleading and inaccurate, and the description you propose being relevant, and accurate of the comapnies offerings towards the searcher, AND how it will ultimately benefit the Directories Relevancy.

Hi Caine

Thanks for the reply re. the Lycos UK listing, it was submitted free to one of the categories of the Lycos directory.

When you go to the relevant category our listing and description are displayed fine but if you search Lycos for our site the title is found ok but the decription displayed is the first 5 words of our description and the rest is someone elses

The same thing has happened to an associate of mine ie returns would be something like this:

Webmaster world.com
Website discussion and advice, *&animals and vetenary practices in New South.....

Regards
Ray

Hello
I to have the same problem one of our clients is listed first for their chosen phrase which is good, but the description is completely random have a look.

offering the highest DillyDally Regional > England > Counties

What are they on about!
Have not bothered contacting them as I was hoping they might realise the error!
Also if they mess around with the listing I was worried that the listing might disappear.
