Why does Yahoo not list our UK site?

How long does it take via the free-submit method?

I would be interested in what kind of results other people have had with the free submit service.

I have tried to submit my website url snipped by engine via the free method, but despite trying twice in the last four months, I haven't got listed.

Is it because this site might be considered to be a commercial one (it has affiliate links)?

Or is it just that Yahoo UK is slow in getting around to the free-submit sites?

Any advice would be welcome :)

IF you are set on getting listed in Yahoo it is best to pay and see results. I suggest free submission to Google as they provide secondary results. Heck shop around there are several free submission UK sites.
The long and short of submitting to the "major search engines" is, ya have to pay for the listings in several key search engines, best of luck.

Further to that, I submitted a public-sector site to Yahoo UK last week, using the free submit option and I got the good news email today! I nearly fell over.

me too i submitted last week and they included me with a few days wow amazing. I have submitted before twice the first time way back in March. I can only assume the editors have a lighter workload resubmit now and tell us what happens.

Well, I just re-submitted based on your quick turn around post dated 08/05/01, I'll let you know what happens!

Yes, please let us know. I'm surprised and pleased that someone of you had success with the free method.

I'm suspicious, however. I've got the feeling that Yahoo! UK don't pay much attention to the sites submitted via the free method. It's just good PR to have this method. What they really want, of course, is for you to fork out $200 per submission.

litmania: I've got the feeling that Yahoo! UK don't pay much attention to the sites submitted via the free method.

In my last submission splurge I got 12/18 (67%) of ODP requests in but only 4/24 (17%) of Yahoo! UK requests in. The Yahoo! entries happened very quickly, though.

Mostly the same sites and roughly equivalent categories across the two directories.

I agree with uk_dokey that it's seemed easier to get in Yahoo! UK since the paid submission policy became well known. I guess that a lot of people have just given up on them.
