"Video Filming" or up lower case variants will bring up 100 pages of the same site- note the London variations and the way the suffix.domainname.co.uk is used.
My thoughts are this is blatant spamming and more to the point it devalues the use of an SE when the searcher is handed results which are total "nonsense" ...couldnt type B***ocks.
What do you guys think -if this was your client would you be ??
A Very Pleased
B Very Concerned
C Very Indifferent
D Add a link to Colmans Mustard to put on the Spam
You still have your 3 Life lines............;)

If this was a client I'd drop them immediately!
They (the main site) claim to have over 1.2 million pages of info.
I agree - B
A spammer had a lot of identical domains with identical content getting all the top 30 positons.
Reported it and the domains were shot down causing 404's.
Guess AV contacted the owner, but
SERP's are still showing the domains though!?
Generally I think the local AV's are way too easy to spam - compared to the rather hysterical AV.com. At least at AV.dk..
9.05...they are all back, just as was thinking I had got something done
Any tips?
Needless to say, my pages are 'content optimised', usually using a general Inktomi type page, but not spam.
I have followed the rules to the letter; no bulk submissions etc. just good (and hopefully useful) content pages.
Many domains are .com's - would this make a difference to AV.co.uk?
Really wish people like our infamous spammer would realise that this type of approach annoys the engines (and we all suffer) and doesn't actually generate traffic, just frustration for the searcher!
Although AV UK does accept .com sites the onus is on you to prove that they are applicable to a UK market so it can prove pretty tough to get a .com listed. They filter out .coms at submission time and are meant to review them to see if they are UK sites but my guess is they are swamped and probably don't bother unless they are looking out for a particular site. May be a way around is to make sure UK appears in the title or description (but that's a guess).
I got this response:
"Thanks too for the spam information, which we will check out. I see what you mean by A-Z's entries! Much appreciated."
I managed to get hold of the Head of Engineering's email address so I will email him, again, with this url - the spam is still there....
Well seems you may be right.
I asked them if they had a dept/person for dealing with spam and I was put through to the office manager who referred me to guess where....?
......yes the 'contact us' page of the site, which they say, is dealt with by the US.
They have no "telephone support'" in Europe.
Well I tried.
This seems a very different story to no more than 8 weeks ago when I called with a doorway enquiry. Then I was put throught to the then GM who gave me some pretty reasonable telephone support and referred me to an engineer.
Mmmmmmmmm.......
I'd guess your contact was one of the casualties.
look at this link - 3,816,284 pages in avuk from these maniacs. Is that a bit much?
Clearly, this is a well thought out programme to achieve results - and it has. But, if it were me or my client, I'd be highly embarrassed by them.
I would have thought it would have been a little more straightforward to provide one of the results under video filming, and not dozens.
I want to do very nasty things to these people.

What annoys and surprises me is how, when you consider the punitive sanctions by some engines on genuine submissions somehow viewed as spam, using automated submissions/reporting etc., these people have managed to get so much rubbish into these engines without punishment or detection!
I think it makes a mockery of their submission guidelines that these pages have got in in the first place. Particularly when you consider the hard work we all put in trying to stay on the right side of the SE's.
A year or so back a wedding services directory were returning the top 110 places for certain search terms. An email to AV UK brought a human response - the guy appreciated apart from the spamming from a users perspective it was a total turn off and within 10 days it had been "sorted".
Now that AV UK has no staff - just an autoresponder....more chance of Phil Mitchell being the next Archbishop of Canterbury than getting anything done. As our friends across the pond so elequently put it, AV Sucks!!!
But there wouldn't be a problem if [chocolatenet.co.uk...]
People like this behaved themselves. Just read that twoddle.
Anyway, shortly after reporting this I noticed that all the londonengland sub domain pages I tried were reporting 404. So maybe the chocolate people have been told something!
