They are well known, but you'd be better off paying to get in MSN's small business directory. It's about £50!
I would look around before shelling out your cash.
UKNetGuide's amount is a one-off submission fee, for life.
The $50 per annum could build up. After ten years its $500.
Obviously, though, it depends on traffic. Anybody know how much traffic UKNetGuide gets? They have recently bought Looksmart UK, but I don't believe that received much traffic either.
This netguide lot may be big, but that doesn't mean quality. I haven't used netguide so I don't know what the ROI might be, but it's attractive looking, full and updated, so it could be worth the £80?
They are a nice site with plenty of potential between the 50 odd sub and real domains - but they always seem to display very similar sites with advertisers right up there at the top.
SO whether or not the £80 reflects the level of interest you'll receive I don't know!
Doesn't take much to guess that your PFI submission will be buried pretty deep, I got a page 15 out of 16 pages of listings about 6 months ago for a PFI submission, traffic generated was, shall we say, a round number.
If a company doesn't deliver (even to those that pay!) what hope is there for decent, fair priced exposure at all.

Still the fee is way to expensive for just a very basic listing. The old story of that there are others about who only charge the £20 mark for a better return, still applies and I just feel that the majority of businesses will go for the better cheaper service every time. Just because something is expensive, doesn't make it better.....
We are in a world now where amazing things can be offered for less, at the same time some just want money. I can't speak for the entire web population though and don't have all the answers - well, not yet anyway.
I forget if they bought someone or someone bought them.
It can be tough to keep up with all these takovers and mergers lol.

So that's not too much then! LOL.
£120 is too much for a site that makes it quite hard to find the non cpc and cpa deals - however I am sure they have implemnted for one of two reasons:
1. They don't want that many submissions so those that they do get are worth their while "authenticating"
2. With the brands associated with the site and prominently displayed they are hoping that the slightly dimmer website owner wants to be a part of it....
Very smart I thinks if they are making enough money already.

Yeah, it's only full of tools like find a loan or check flight info, BT etc - hardly any actual content at all. hmmm I'm not saying it ain't useful - just not fully a portal yet.
If you are going to have a portal site, then besides a directory, web search - you gotta have loads of content that keeps people coming back. It's okayish, but even some 2nd tier directories beat them on traffic count. Spend the cash elsewhere me thinks.
For now anyway.
