I'm here in the U.S. and trying to learn about differences that may exist between the U.S. & UK PPC markets. Specifically, our firm is examining whether or not we should start marketing our PPC keyword management solution in 2004 or 2005. A few questions:
1) Any guesses as to how many PPC advertisers there are in the UK who spend more than a 50000 pounds per month on paid search? Is it closer to 10, 50, or 100 in your view? For the sake of argument, here in the U.S. it's about 100-200
2) What percent of large PPC advertisers in the UK manage their PPC bids
a)manually
b)using some internally-developed solution
c)using a third party agency (who's probably using (b) #:^)
or
d)using a third party bid mgmt solution
3) How is a typical large UK advertiser's PPC budget split up? Is it spent 100% in the UK? If not, what % is spent in the rest of Europe, and what % in the U.S., Asia, etc?
4) Who are the 3-5 most well-respected SEM firms in the U.K.(excluding the search engine's themselves)?
Thanks in advance for any responses. The U.K. PPC market sure seems interesting, and with the dollar so weak us Yanks may be able to compete despite our negative perceptions over there.
More than 100!
> 2) What percentage...
Probably most use (c)
> 3) How typical...
Most big spenders are mainly interested in the UK market only. In fact the biggest difficulty here is not being able to charge major companies for referrals from outside the UK!
> 4) Most respected..
Unlike the US, Overture have accredited certain SEMs in the UK. They tend to be amongst the most respected. Ask them for a list of who they consider the best!
