That is a good move. I think it might have helped a lot if Elon had taken a quick Civics course. I mean, he seems to confuse the differences between business and government 'news'.

there probably used to be any number of employees on the API team that could have told him what a bad PR move it would be to remove access for these apps.

Stopping service until a complete review is made of current code is not a bad thing. But do agree that the PR side was royally overlooked!
