Twitter has relaunched TwitterBlue today, Monday 12 December, and it's $8/month or on iOS for $11/month. It still requires approval to get the blue check mark, even if paying, and Twitter Blue subscribers will get new features coming soon, including their tweets prioritized, they will see 50% fewer ads, will have the ability to post longer videos, and will get early access to features in Twitter Blue Labs.

Blue checkmarks are like a vanity plate on social media. Sometimes perspective is key.

Your taxes - They are your yearly subscription to the country you live in (NOT optional)

Your childhood - The free trial (hopefully you had a good one)

Your name - It tells someone what noise they should make to get your attention

Your health - It's your capacity to enjoy life, lose it and you'll realize that very little is more important

Your funeral - You spend your life gathering guests for it

Your blue checkmark - It's your receipt for donating to Elon Musk and his social platform. Hint: Nobody needs one, you're not there for him.

Can't really find a definitive answer but what if you use multiple devices to access Twitter? Say someone uses it on a PC at home and an iPhone when out and about. If they subscribe to Twitter Blue on their PC will their features be limited when they log in via their iPhone?

My understanding is that it's to do with the sign-up procedure and the fact that Apple takes a significant slice of the subscription, so it's nothing to do with the operation of the user account, only the subscription.

Apple takes a slice of the blue checkmark price? That's like buying a BMW and needing a sibscription for things like airbags and unlocking 5th gear, even though you bought them already. This generation is OK with this stuff?

Interesting.

funny you should say this because that's exactly what they did with heated seats and more!

Apple store, as I understand it, takes about 30% cut, so it makes sense to use alternative means to subscribe.

@topr8 I noticed that subscription on the BMW [webmasterworld.com] and thought it was a rip-off, and i'm sure it's going to backfire at some point: All it takes is everyone boycotting it and the manufacturers will have to re-think the money-grabbing scheme.

Back to Twitter Blue
I've noticed quite a few people saying they won't subscribe, but then, they might change their mind in due course.
I don't take much notice of it as it's what's being said that is important.

Curiosity only ... any reports on the uptake of paid blue checks on t out there, either $8 or $11?

Not that I've seen but look at a popular SEO account, like Marie Haynes, and every SEO interacting with her is blue checkmarked. You can see it first hand.
