Twitter Funding Research to Develop a Decentralized Standard for Social Media

Twitter has said it's funding an effort into developing a decentralized standard for social media, and it says it's aim is for twitter to be a client of this standard.

Twitter's CEO, Jack Dorsey, calls the project, Bluesky.

Amongst other things, he went on to say, "the value of social media is shifting away from content hosting and removal, and towards recommendation algorithms directing one’s attention. Unfortunately, these algorithms are typically proprietary, and one can’t choose or build alternatives. Yet."

Ranchers do this all the time in the American west .. I think they call it ... herding cattle
