Twitter says it is working on a new authentication and verification program following the misconception that the opened up verification program appears an endorsement of the user.

It's reviewing the current system and also verifications, so even if you are verified today, that status may be removed.

No new public submissions are permitted at this time, and twitter's introducing new verified accounts guidelines. [support.twitter.com...]

Yay, maybe one should try and get the account verified again?

The general public can't make any submissions at this time until the new verification program is finalised. If you're famous I guess you can still go through verification.

Added, it's worth reminding everyone that the you may have verified status removed if you break any of twitter's guidelines.

I have seen lots of misconception of twitter account verification process. There are lot of accounts that shows verified badge without any popularity or special appearances. This should be either issued in public policy so, that everyone can get their profile verified by following the guidelines. Thank you for making this program more strict on new verification program in Twitter.
