Twitter has announced a partnership with Bloomberg for a 24-hour a day video news streaming service.

This could be an interesting addition to twitter, and it'll certainly help Bloomberg get to a wider audience.

I wonder exactly how the ad revenue aspect will be split, as it seems both parties are remaining tight-lipped on that aspect.

The channel, which has yet to be named and is expected to begin operating this fall, won’t simply rebroadcast footage from Bloomberg’s existing television operation, but will be made up of live news reporting from the news outlet’s bureaus around the world, as well as a curated and verified mix of video posted on Twitter by the social-media platform’s users. I was thinking it would be nice if users could download 10 or 15 minute segments to their mobile devices instead of depending on the continual live stream, which may work where the bandwidth is available but not if the user travels into a dead spot.

Interesting development! Wonder what will happen to Periscope, Meerkat (still alive?) and Facebook live video?

That's a interesting thought keyplyr. Seeing a lot of the streaming services offer content for offline viewing.

It seems twitter will have a further fifteen live streaming content deals, in addition to Bloomberg. These deals include NBA, MLB Games, Stadium, The Players Tribune, PGA Tour, BuzzFeed News, The Verge, Cheddar, Live Nation, IMG Fashion, Propagate, Viacom, DCP.

Today’s announcements include new exclusive original live programming, live games and events, live syndications, extensions of existing live deals, and new always-on live streaming content onto the platform. This presents new opportunities for brands to reach passionate and engaged audiences by sponsoring premium video content at scale.
