A Twitter executive used what he though was a DM, but it wasn't, it was a tweet.

Now there's speculation about who was the target of the potential acquisition.

It's interesting that twitter appears to use DMs to conduct internal business.

All too easy to make the mistake, eh!

Twitter CFO Anthony Noto sent out a tweet Monday about a potential acquisition target in what appeared to be a Direct Message that was tweeted out accidentally. It was quickly deleted by Noto, but not before journalists captured a screen grab of the tweet.Twitters Accidental Tweet Was Meant to be a Direct Message About an Acquisition [recode.net]

It would be a lot safer if they used Yammer! At least with Yammer you couldn't message anyone from outside the company.

This suddenly makes me realize that one great tool to not only make leaks less likely, but to make everyone more efficient, would also be to remove the Reply All functionality from email.

We’ve been told Twitter is not looking to buy a standalone messenger. (Given Noto’s accidental tweet, they may want to reconsider.)

Heh. A Monday morning train wreck. :P
