What kind of exposure do Promoted Tweets offer?

I was wondering what kind of feedback people can offer about Promoted Tweets?

What kind of companies have been using them (industry wise)? What are they generating; traffic, followers, brand awareness etc?

Just trying to gage what benefits they have, or whether its just a backhanded way of paying for followers (to put it harshly).

Unless i'm mistaken, you buy access to the hashtag, so that the ad runs on that. Does it give you opportunities for followers, I guess it would, but i'd suggest it's more for branding, or to sell a product or service.

Since all Promoted Tweets start out as regular Tweets, there is not a single “ad” in our Promoted Tweets platform that isn’t already an organic part of Twitter.
This is distinct from both traditional search advertising and more recent social advertising.
