Given that I tend to surf with a NoScript/RequestPolicy enabled version of Firefox, I don't tend to see what widgets are being commonly used. (I just see the ridicuously long list of domains that sites seem to expect me to download stuff from!)

So what are the most common/most effective twitter widgets to add to sites?

Do you mean for enabling sharing of the page via the visitor's Twitter account? Automated tweeting of content? Display of the author's/site's tweet-stream?

What platform does the site run on, if any? (Wordpress, Joomla, etc.)

Platform - HTML (effectively, it's a custom CMS)

As for the other question, part of why I was asking was to find out what is being done? Searches turn up so many widgets doing the same thing in different ways, or on different platforms that it is difficult to know whether two search results are talking about the same widget without clicking through on all of them!

From the options you listed more likely would be enabling sharing of the page, moving to tweet-stream when I'm more active.

Seen a few JQuery widgets for tweet-streams on my searches, is there anything lighter weight out there?
