Question regarding Youtube and Google

Hello,

I uploaded a few videos on Youtube to see what works or not. I uploaded like 12 thumbnails and videos. 5 of them Rank well, the others do not. I wrote my own title and description tags :)

Each thumbnail/video shows up on google. If I delete those I no longer want showing up on Youtube, will they disappear from Google search and images? WIll this hurt my SEO or not?

Another question, why do several videos rank well with a keyword phrase that has nothing to do with that such keyword? Example, you create a video about link building and use propert title tag and description. You, your video does not rank well but a wrestling video does for that keyword link building. Why is this? Makes no sense.

Hi rzdemo and Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]

You do not mention the time frame of your experiment so it is a little difficult to guess what might cause the effect you've noticed. One thing to keep in mind is that the kind of anomaly you describe can often be attributed to 'personalized' results. If you or someone who uses the computer you're seeing this on has an interest in wrestling then it becomes likely to say that might be involved. Remember too that what you see for any search is not what everyone is seeing. There is not a single universal index of results for any term.

IF this is a short term observation - say uploading last month or the month before, then you are not likely to see settled results. It depends also on the viewers who have watched your videos, their interests can affect what topics might be associated with those videos.

Further, Google does not share their exact formulas for determining what they show for anything. There isn't a formula to follow for success and that makes it all experienced guessing. Keywords seem to matter more to ad campaigns than anything else and any new content takes time to be positioned at the overall level compared with all other content.

Now, if your videos were uploaded two years ago and some have popularity while others do not, then you might have some data to help you decide what works and what does not.

noeasy, thank you for the welcome. I uploaded several of my videos over the last two weeks; with some being days ago. All of them show up on google search when I type in my doman name in " ". I would like to delete 6 of them and rebuild new videos that are more local. If I delete these 6 videos from youtube , again will they disappear from Google search?

The test I done shows that local marketing works really well over simple keywords. Example, it is easier to rank well for "luxury homes for sale in Santa Monica, CA." But harder to rank if just using real estate or real estate in santa monica.

Google is not likely to keep sending traffic to videos that do not exist, but I am not sure of the process to remove video content. You want to do it their way or they could add obstacles to further trial efforts. I haven't had anything to do with uploading new videos for several years, but I know they have narrowed the wide open welcome they used to have. I'd suggest a look into their policy documents before making a decision.
