Wow that's unexpected. Guess I hadn't followed their story of downfall closely enough. I knew they were sold to eBay. Didn't know the original owners bought it back. Sounds like just poor monetization management.
At one time, if your pages were stumbled upon it could add thousands of visitors in a matter of minutes. Happened numerous times for me.
I'd see a sharp usage spike, then look in my server logs and sure enough, I was stumbled upon.
Guess they weren't modern enough to compete with other more tech advanced Social Media sharing platforms.

It used to be a great tool for triggering a traffic spike. I think any social platform these day needs to offer something really unique. I guess SU fell short in that regard.

Actually I'm still seeing referrals in my logs, 20 to 30 here and there but nowhere near the numbers it used to be.

Bad Luck, I am the new user of Stumbleupon and I didn't even get a huge amount of traffic from SU and it is getting closed, bad news :(

Great! Now I have to go into all my client's websites and remove the StumbleUpon link.

That's one of the infamous mantras of web work.

These days I wonder how many users even knew about SU? The bright shiny toys (phones) come loaded with so many apps, etc that few have a need to use more than what they have ...

Just looked at my server logs... still getting traffic from them. Cached SU pages?
