One of the earliest social media sites, Friends Reunited, is to shut down. Honestly, I didn't know it was still going as it had gone through various owners and facelifts.

This was a UK specific network? I had not heard of it, but noticed a lot of articles about this closing in the press today.

Yes, it was UK specific, and was one of the originals. I used it right at the beginning as it really was something new, but soon lost it way by charging fees to use it.
