Basically it loads a few square icons 35x35, attached to eachother into a fixed position. When a user "mouseovers" a social icon, the icon is elegantly being switched with the real social plugin, which is loaded only then. Onmouseout the plugin is fading out and the icon fading in again.
It really works nicely and makes the overall webdesign much nicer. It also improves page render time. The look is similar to the AddThis plugin, but the functionality is different.
My question: Does anyone have experience and know whether this has an impact on the CTR of plugins? Wouldn't just loading the "ugly" social buttons be better for getting more followers and shares?
