How to make HTTPS page crawlable and cacheble instead of HTTP page?

To resolve my home page's caching problem.

Hi,

I have a website that's home page is opening with https because I need this to run with secure server. HTTP page is also redirected to the HTTPS page.

But when I am going to check the Google's cache date it shows HTTP page in it's caching. Please help me to short out this problem. And I also want to know that these thing are good or bad for SEO purposes.

I am waiting for the response from the great SEO's of the world with proper solutions.

have you tried "fetch as googlebot" in GWT?
are both URLs appearing in the index?

Also you can set preferred domain in Google webmaster.
