sitemap priority field

I've submitted sitemaps since the days of gsitecrawler. I'm curious though, has anyone seen the 'priority' field have much of an effect?

The priority field in sitemaps is not mandatory and Google does not consider this option. Rather it ignores the priority field. So, this does not have much effect.
