Verification Files and Meta Tag Verification

Hi all,

wondering if anyone has experience the google webmaster tools does not pick up an existing verification file when URL rewriters are used on a website.

i have used url rewriters and the verification is in the root dir and webmaster tools is unable t detect, hence unable to verify.

i am going to switch to using the meta tag for the verification.

any tips or tricks...

try requesting that file and examining the response you get.
if it redirects elsewhere or rewrites to something nonexistent then gwt won't verify.

you might also try the new "fetch as googlebot" feature to see if it can pick up your verification file.
