Hii all,

For a give application (for example a banner rotating script) which can be developed in both cgi/perl and PHP...!
..Which consumes more server/cpu resources...??
...If there is any diff in the loads...is it very noticeable...in that sense that has some impact on the server performance..??
..Which is More secure...if payments are also included...??

Thanks in advance..
:)

I'm afraid I can't give any solid figures, but in my experience PHP is slightly faster and more efficient than vanilla Perl, although mod_perl/Apache is probably the fastest altogether.

I don't know of any security issues with either PHP or Perl, security would be a matter for the script rather than the language I think.

For Perl/CGI and PHP that I have use with apache that result are PERL/CGI faster than PHP but PHP is scriping easily than perl especially in modification HTML style and connected with Mysql database and little slowly than perl if who want to choose I sugguess that the one should be PHP .and now I use PHP because some web hosting not support some PERL/CGI Module.

hii there,

Okay...My Host provider supports..

PHP
persistent DB connections
MySql
CGI/Perl
Apache
OS: Unix

Given that...say..i want to run an adv network...which do u suggest php or cgi/perl for coding my application...??

Also..which hogs more resources...any quantative measurements would be appreciated..:)..
I am concerned about the CPU usage b'cos, i am charged for the cpu usage and the bandwidth...!

Thanks again

Im sure there is software out there to check out the usage of your CPU in regards to running aps

I suppose you could download similar software written in different languages and compare the two....just a suggestion, and making sure my password works (its my first post) ;)
