The previous server had no FormMail abilities so I sat my forms on another server (unix box) and had them sent from there.
Now that I can access the server I want to add this feature to it.
I'm running NT4.0 with Apache 1.3.22, CF5, and MSSQL 2000.
Does anyone know what software there is out there or whether the existing software has the capabilities?
TIA
Justa
Regarding the security issue; the latest version of FormMail looks to have addressed this (>v1.6 have the flaw).
For NT Perl see: [activestate.com...]
For FormMail itself: [worldwidemart.com...]
txbakers: Sendmail, have you used this before? Pro's Con's?
NoSanity: yeah, I know it is a scripting language. I'm actually really enjoying working with both products. Very basic at the moment, but I'm always look for more challenging projects to work on.
The problem with scripting my own is I have no idea where to start. I'll search here and other search engines, but if anyone has a good reference starting point let me know.
Looking at CF5 I need a mail server for this to work. The mail server we use is unavailable for this (it's hosted by another company and is too costly). Can anyone suggest a mail server? I've checked out a few but I'm not up to speed on whats what.
Sendmail is an open source mail program - predominantly fround on Unix systems. [sendmail.org...] - though no information on NT is found there.
Look at [ntsendmail.com...] haven't run it myself (unix guy) but it looks very promising.
If your on a hosting package chances are a mail server is included.
It's like making the transition in school from blunt plastic sissors to the shiny metal sharp ones, I'm just hoping I don't cut myself to badly
I'll check out ntsendmail now.
Cheers for the help.
You would be better to use the FormMail program at:
which will work fine on windows with the 'nms_sendmail' that is a sendmail work-a-like written in Perl.
