Perl thumb nail scripts

Anyone know of a Perl thumbnail script that doesn't use an external image program or embedded c? (eg: all the gfx routines are in perl).

Could gif.pl [oac.uci.edu] be close?

GD graphics library [stein.cshl.org] (creation of graphics in Perl)

:-) close, but it uses C routines and GD.

I guess what I'm looking for doesn't exist.
