I would appreciate if I could get some help creating a file download perl script so people can download pictures, wall paper and e-books from my website. I would require a drop down menu for down load choices and a download button. They are free downloads so I don't require any e commerce.
My largest problem is I am running windows server 2000 not unix server. Can anyone provide me with the proper script that will work

I have my own server for my own websites. The server is windows 2000 server with IIS-5 on it. I have perl installed on the server as well.
I have created a cgi-bin in the website root c:/inetpub/wwwroot/myfolder/cgi-bin
I have given it permissions including iusr.
I also created a virtual director in IIS and given permissions to it as well as adding .cgi and .pl extensions from c:/perl/bin/perl.exe

I hope someone can help me.
Thank You

You don't need a perl script to do this. You just need to offer up a direct link and let their browser download it.

How many files are there? If only a few then you just need to offer a direct link like this:

Welcome to My Downloads. Click on one of the links below to download:

[a href = "cat1.jpg]Cat Picture[/a]
[a href = "mouse1.jpg]Mouse Picture[/a]

If you have hundreds of files in different categories, such that your drop down menu has sections for cats, mice, then pictures, sounds ... If you are already generating that then you just need to offer up the link

Please select a category from the menu

Animal (drop down list)

Now select a file type:

File Type (drop down list)

You chose Cat Sounds. Please download the file by [a href="miaow1.wav"]clicking this link [/a]

If you have not already got the menu scripts then you may want to use javascript. Have a search for javascript menu, javascript dropdown and see the examples.
