Looks like I finally need to learn something about Perl. Any one have a good book reference? I'm considering buying "Perl Best Practices" by O'Reilly

I have found O'Reilly's Perl in a Nutshell to be indispensable when learning Perl. Even now, I still use it as a great reference; it has one of the best explanations of regular expressions I have ever found.

I recommend the Perl BookShelf References (on CD or books). Several books, from beginner (includes Perl in Nutshell) to advanced. You can pick it up at ebay and amazon for very reasonable prices.

The Perl BookShelf References is a great one. I got this on CD, and put it up on a website, so that I can refence it from almost anywhere.

Technically that sounds illegal so be careful. All the books are copyrighted and I assume it's illegal to reproduce them in any form.

If I made the website publicly available, then I'm sure there would be major issues. But it's for my own use, and only I have access. I didn't "reproduce" anything, it was already in a digital format; I simply changed the medium on which that is available. And since I've been doing it for the better part of 4 years, I'm not too worried :)

Always good to be cautious of such things though.

I'd check out a copy of the Perl Cookbook. Lots of good "learn by example" stuff.
