Tell-a-friend script

Hi,

I know how the script works and everything.
I was wondering if anyone knew of a script that could tell the URL of that pg. and send that link to the friend.

i.e. you know those sites that have tons of pages and each one has a tell-a-friend link.

Is that a special script? If so where can I get one?

;) No, Skinny. The only script serves for all pages on a site to do this. I even do not know where you can get a script of this type - may be everywhere - in every place where scripts are available : this task is not very complex.

Have a look around Hotscripts.com - there are several scripts there that will do this for you.

Wouldn't it be wiser to have one script that takes a GET param containing the URL of the link they'd like to send to their friend?

E.G.

http://www.example.com/cgi-bin/tellafriend.cgi?page=http://www.example.com/widgets/furry/blue/

And have that be the link they click to tell their friend. Then you can grab $url and put it in the email. Seems sane, unless I'm missing another requirement of the script..

It's quite common to use the referer field.

Your script could access the $ENV{'HTTP_REFERER'} variable. That contains the URL that referred the visitor to the script.
