Hi. I would like to do a (rather) large perl project, with lots of programming variety. Any ideas?

Is this a free service you are willing to offer to a WebmasterWorld subscriber :-)

If so, sticky me.

I meant that i am looking forward to writing some scripts and publishing them on the internet. kind of like Dada Mail (dadamail.org). Any ideas for something like that (just a project I would make from scratch, and offer on the internet)?

Here's an idea:

Write a script that will take the content from any page and rewrite it to paraphrase the original with approximately the same amount of text.

You mean like, by replacing the phrase "in order to" with "to"?

not so much I wouldn't think

hehe, volatilegx, you're a bad man ;)

paraphrase

1. A restatement of a text or passage in another form or other words, often to clarify meaning.
2. The restatement of texts in other words as a studying or teaching device.

so your script needs to understand how to interpret text and then restate it

Yes, I am a bad, bad boy :)

I would personally pay bucks for a flexible script like this. Especially if it was written as a perl module.

I understand there is at least one software program that already does this, although I'm not exactly sure what all its features are.

As a perl module, it would be like gold.

I think it would be more than gold :)

Actually, you can use any translation service to do something similar. Take a document, translate it from English to Spanish, and then retranslate the Spanish version back into English, and you'll have a paraphrased document. It may not read quite right, but it would be good enough for search engine purposes.

Now, if only I could find a translation service that would let me run thousands of queries a day ;)
