Hello, is perl and cgi the same thing?

Also do either of these do timers under a minute including milliseconds? Please let me know, thank you very much. Simone.

"Perl" is a programming ("scripting") language.

"CGI" is a method (Common Gateway Interface) that allows data to be passed from a webpage to a script.

You can write a Perl script that performs CGI functions.

But, no the two are not the same thing.

Answer to second part of question:

Yes, you can write routines in perl that act as timers and control or report in milliseconds.

perl can be written in almost any style - usually including some in which you are already comfortable.
kinda like a closet full of old shoes and faded jeans...
