I've been looking at the Dicus board and UltraBoard. Don't know enough about managing a forum to know what to look for.

Check out [vbulletin.com]

In terms of popularity and plenty of admin features, UBB is probably the most widely known and accepted [infopop.com]

Personally, I dislike reading/posting on Discus and UltraBoard.

The threads have a run-on, jumbled look. Just hard to power-read. You get used to certain formats, too -a known, comfortable interface. UBB has become a standard.

ikonboard [ikondiscussion.com] looks to be a good free BBS system. Took about 15 minutes to get it installed.

Discuss is highly popular with Webmasters, but not so popular with users. I've seen but a couple of successfull Discuss based forums. Users just don't seem to care for the format.

Vbulletin is pretty nice.
