I stream music from my box via a page on my site.

What I would like to do is this.

Have a now playing link blinking when the music
is in fact being played. On the other hand now being
played would not blink when music is turned off.
If I'm not mistaken I think I'll need to do this using php.
Am I right or wrong?
Thanks.

Most sites run a script to check and see if a port on a remote server (your box) is up - if so, they just assume you are prepped for connections and display some type of "online" or "activated" image.

If you are talking about the image actually blinking only when the individual is streaming some music, you'll need to use some technology that ties the browser display w/the delivery method, like Flash - or one of the prebuilt streaming apps like ShoutCast et al.

Hi bcolflesh.

Thanks for the reply.

Maybe I should clarify.
I am currently streaming via shoutcast.
But sometimes I'm not piping the music because of pc maintenance or I'm listening to a former co-worker radio station, which is in Central America.

During these moments I want the (now playing) not to blink.
On the other hand I want it to blink when I start streaming.

In the sentence below the action should indicate whether or not the music is available.

If you feel up to it you can enjoy some of these music by clicking on the Now playing link if if it is blinking.
