What is VI? Is that some text editor for Perl? My hosting company said I've got a DOS or PC format script. Not sure what hes talking about?

Vi is a text editor.

Your text editor has saved in PC format, they want UNIX.

Try "save as" and look for options - often asking about "line endings" and go for UNIX.

If your text editor doesn't do this Vi will.
