PERL and the E-mail Form

I am in the process of creating a web page that will contain a form that once submitted will process the data entered and (hopefully) the e-mail sent to my client will be legible and user friendly.

My issue is that I am totally unfamiliar with PERL or really any type of server side scripting. Are there any goo freeware scripts or quick tutorials?

Thanks

There are a lot of very good resources where you can download scripts, you may be able to download one that is perfect for your needs.

I usualy use hotscripts.com

They also have links to tutorials and websites related to the various scripting languages.

Thanks I checked the site (and several others now) and I find they are very helpful. It is a bit overwhelming so I've got a bit of research to do now.

if you want to do more than a quick hack on a script, i'd strongly recommend you buy a good book about PHP or ASP or Perl (CGI) programming and work your way through it. you'll learn good programming techniques while at the same time learning your chosen server side programming language. any time you download those free scripts, you'll be able to understand what they do and how to modify them really easily. books also have the advantage that you can take them wherever you go (bus, train etc) so you can read them during any spare time you have away from your computer. web tutorials often only cover bits and pieces, but books cover everything and will last you for years.

I agree with crazy fool on this one...

The best way to lern a scripting language is to buy a good book, turm of your computer and read it. Dont try and jump in at the deep end, read the book from the start. Why not take a trip to amazon and read some customer reviews.

When you read the book, my advice is to read a chapter, then do something with it. So of you read a chapter on, say, creating a web page, when you finish it see if you can apply what you've learned. If you have any difficulty at all, re-read the chapter. Repeat until you can apply.
