Hello,
I've found old discussions on this topic, and the recent thread about a UK man who pled guilty to "stealing" a wi-fi signal under ambiguous circumstances. Since this is a developing topic, I wanted to discuss the "state of the art" of using someone else's wi-fi signal. I am talking about logging on to the internet, NOT hacking, peering into files, or manipulating the security settings to log on, or even hogging bandwidth with huge files. Strictly logging onto unsecured wi-fi.
Is this currently considered a crime in the U.S.?
If not a crime, how ethical is it exactly, to log on to an unsecure connection with no malevolent intent or action?
Thanks,
