Hi all,

I hope this is the correct category to post this message.

I'm interested in creating a mobile site for a data enabled tablet but i'm not sure where to begin.

My thoughts are that i need...

1. software technology like jQuery Mobile Framework.
2. a smartphone and tablet simulator.
3. tutorials and examples.

There are also a few things i'd like to be able to do on the tablet such as; being able to have a customer write their signature on the screen and have that signature image transmitted to the server, have the tablet be able to cache customer data while the data connection is down.

So my questions are...

1. Does jQuery Mobile Framerwork support hand written signatures?
2. Does jQuery Mobile Framework support the caching of data on the mobile tablet when the data connection is down and then transmit when the connection is reestablished?

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

"a smartphone and tablet simulator"

I don't know of a good one, if there is one.

Have a look at "Keynote Mobile Internet Testing Environment (MITE)". You will need to register and download the software. I have found it to be quite accurate for mobile emulation and it has a wide range of devices to choose from.

At the end of the day, it's best to test on actual devices.

I noticed that flash files still play in MITE when iPad is selected as a test device, so not 100% reliable.
