Skype, a leading provider of inexpensive phone calls over the Internet, has finally completed a long-awaited move to make its service available over AT&T’s 3G network.

Before, you could only make Skype calls from an iPhone when it was connected to the Internet through Wi-Fi.

Now people can make low-cost Skype calls any time their phone has a connection, whether it is to AT&T’s 3G network or through Wi-Fi.

I went to the Skype homepage and the app can be download for free but how much cheaper are the call ? i have a 3gs on the O2 network in the UK but with the addition of the Skype facilty this nearly covers very form of communication that i need.

If you're calling from Skype to Skype it's free. You can also call landlines, but you'd need a paid account for that. You can check the Skype site for your local rates.

Skype is practically useless unless you talk A LOT or you're out of the country. With AT&T's talk plans, even the lowest give plenty of minutes, and that's ignoring all the rollover minutes.
