Android firmware upgrade

I have been emailing back and forth with my network regarding bugs with my phone, today I got an sms informing me of a firmware update for the phone. I also got an email from the support rep I had been emailing to give he a heads up on the upgrade.

Has anyone ever done a firmware upgrade on android before, and what are the pitfalls?

Well, the update went to plan. Obviously all data and settings are lost, so its important to sync your contacts first, then sync them back over when finished.

Regarding software I had downloaded from Android market. They where still shown in "my downloads" so I was able to simply tap the app link to download them again.

What took the most time was setting the phone back to the way I like it. Thinks like browser settings, homepage icons sounds and alerts. It would be good if there was a way to save these settings as well.

All in all an uneventful update, and that has to be a good thing.
