Hello....

I have a Dell Wireless Mouse that has stopped transmitting back and forth between my laptop (the blue light does not stay on). I have contacted Dell...that didn't help.

Any suggestions as to where I can go to get help so I can get the mouse working again?

THANK YOU.

Wireless mice need battery. Replace the battery in the mouse and see if it works.
Why did contacting Dell Service not help? Is it is still covered under warranty.

Thanks for your reply.

I understand that the mouse needs batteries. They have been changed. Dell did not help because what they told me to do did not work. Downloading an upgrade that did not work with my computer.

Someone other than Dell muct be able to troubleshoot. I am looking for a forum where that would happen. Any suggestions?

TKS...

Check if the problem is with this particular mouse or your laptop first. Use a different mouse -- probably borrow from someone at work?

If the problem is mouse then you probably need to check whats wrong with your laptop. Is it bluetooth mouse or just wireless mouse that uses a USB port?

There should be no need for any special upgrades to software or OS for using a mouse. Mouse are automatically recognized by OS. (unless you are talking about very old OS like windows 95/98/ME).

Unfortunately, these days, the technology is so cheap it is often less expensive to replace than repair. That said, does this mouse have a base station? If so move it to a new location. You might have interference coming from newly added appliances in your location...or next door! Won't hurt, won't cost anything. That little action corrected a perplexing problem we had here over the winter when a "fancy remote" space heater was added to the room during a particularly cold snap. Affected both wireless mouse and keyboard.

I tend to agree with considering a mouse as a field replacable disposable unit. IOW, it is more efficient to discard it rather than try to fix it.

However, I would check to make sure that (1) the window isn't obscured and (2) that you didn't change surfaces. Some mice absolutely refuse to work on certain surfaces.

Also, I plugged the receiver for my mouse into a USB extension cable so the receiver is right next to the mouse.
